Amaryllises in the office? Yes please!
Have you ever thought of adding a pop of color and life to your office? Amaryllises are a great way to do just that! Not only are they beautiful and vibrant, but they are also surprisingly low maintenance and can last for weeks in an office environment. They may be the easiest and most impressive flowers you’ll ever grow, with most of the water and nutrients the flowers will need for the season already present inside the bulb.
Waxed amaryllis bulbs from Bloomaker are a unique and beautiful addition to any indoor space. These bulbs are hand-dipped in a special wax mixture, which not only adds a decorative touch but also helps to retain moisture, ensuring that the bulbs stay hydrated and healthy.
In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits of having waxed amaryllises in the office, the best way to care for them, and some helpful tips for making the most of your office amaryllises.
Benefits of Amaryllises in the Office
Amaryllises are a great way to bring a splash of color and life to any office space! Not only do they look great, but they also can help to improve air quality, reduce stress, and encourage creativity. Having plants in the office can also help to reduce noise levels and improve productivity.
Best Way to Care for Amaryllises
The Amaryllis is a tropical plant and grows best in warm temperatures. The ideal temperature for them is 68-75º Fahrenheit. Waxed Amaryllises are low maintenance, but they do require some basic care in order to stay healthy and vibrant. First thing you need to know is that Waxed Amaryllises do not need any water. All the nutrients are present inside of the bulb. They do however need plenty of indirect sunlight, so make sure to keep them near a window.
For the potted non-waxed bulbs, make sure to keep the soil moist and water them every two weeks, but be careful not to overwater! The soil should be damp, not soggy. They also need plenty of indirect sunlight so just like the waxed Amaryllises, place them near a window and make sure to turn the container every couple of days to make sure the stem grows straight up as they tend to lean towards the light.
Helpful Tips for Making the Most of Your Office Amaryllises
There are a few tricks you can use to make sure they last as long as possible. One of them is to trim off any wilted flowers, and try to keep them away from any cold drafts. We always recommend to wait until the flowers completely fade and the flower stalk yellows before trimming it off the plant. Trim it off about an inch above the bulb, being sure not to cut into the foliage. Finally, give them a little love and attention every now and then; they’ll appreciate it!
How to Get Your Waxed Amaryllis to Grow Again
Saving and replanting your Waxed Amaryllis bulb is a little trickier and not guaranteed to work, but it has been done before (with success!). Check out this helpful video from Mark Viette on how to extract and plant the bulb:
Overall, amaryllises are a great way to add positivity to any indoor space and they can last for weeks! So why not give them a try in your office?
